Research: Remote Sensing of Polar Regions
Expertise: Microwave Remote Sensing, Sea Ice and Snow Physics, Radars and Radiometers

The area covered by sea ice in the Arctic in summer 2022 and winter 2023 in comparison to the longterm median 1981–2010 (orange contour). The sea ice data were derived from measurements of the microwave radiometer AMSR2 onboard the GCOM-W satellite. Daily updated data can be found under www.seaice.uni-bremen.de.
